NEW DELHI: A 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook the city and other parts of northern and western region of the country today. The epicentre of the quake, which occured at 11:18 AM, was Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region, the meteorology department officials said.
They said the intensity of the tremor was higher in Jammu and Kashmir compared with other parts of northern and western India.
The epicentre of the tremor was located at a latitude of 36.7 degrees North and longitude of 70.68 degrees East, the meteorology department said.
There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to life and property.
