The government should not force its (labour) agenda. If the government wants us to hire workers from tomorrow it would not be possible for us to do it. You go to China and set up a factory today and close it tomorrow, hire labour today and shed it tomorrow. This is the labour environment there. We do not want such flexibility because we are a socialist country. We have the best of democracy, best of judiciary, and best of talent pool and yet China stays ahead of us because the labour policy there is flexible.
Venugopal Dhoot, President, Assocham
